Introduction to Chief Petty Officers

Chief Petty Officers (CPOs) are senior enlisted personnel in the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard. They are considered technical experts in their field and are responsible for leading and mentoring junior personnel. Designing the Chief Petty Officers

To design our 8 CPOs, we need to consider their rate (job specialty), rank, and years of service. We will also give each CPO a unique background, including their hometown, education, and personal interests. Here are our 8 CPOs:
  • CPO1: Boatswain’s Mate (BM) with 15 years of service from Chicago, Illinois. He has a degree in marine engineering and enjoys sailing in his free time.
  • CPO2: Electronics Technician (ET) with 12 years of service from San Diego, California. She has a degree in electrical engineering and is an avid hiker.
  • CPO3: Culinary Specialist (CS) with 10 years of service from New Orleans, Louisiana. He has a degree in culinary arts and loves cooking and music.
  • CPO4: Machinist’s Mate (MM) with 18 years of service from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has a degree in mechanical engineering and enjoys reading and history.
  • CPO5: Operations Specialist (OS) with 14 years of service from Seattle, Washington. She has a degree in communications and is an avid traveler.
  • CPO6: Aerographer’s Mate (AG) with 11 years of service from Atlanta, Georgia. He has a degree in meteorology and loves weather forecasting and sports.
  • CPO7: Personnel Specialist (PS) with 13 years of service from Dallas, Texas. She has a degree in human resources and enjoys volunteering and community service.
  • CPO8: Information Systems Technician (IT) with 16 years of service from Denver, Colorado. He has a degree in computer science and is an avid gamer and tech enthusiast.
